VANCOUVER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (V.I.P.)
MTI Community College offers Internship programs to International Students in a variety of areas. Our Vancouver Internship Program (V.I.P.) offers our International Students the opportunity to not only study in Canada, but to work at a Canadian company as well. You will have the opportunity to develop the language skills you need to function effectively in any English speaking work environment.
A student can enrol in a V.I.P program over a broad range of areas including Business Management, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Medical Office Assistant and Resident Care Aide.
The internship can range from 3 months up to 6 months depending on the area of concentration, and follows the completion of the relevant course material.
For students who already have a post secondary education, we offer a 6 month V.I.P. program that involves the first 3 months developing language skills, communication strategies, interview techniques and Canadian Business knowledge, followed by 3 months of internship.
International Students who wish to participate in our V.I.P. program must apply for a Work Permit. There is no fee for this application, and MTI will assist you in doing this. To be eligible for a Work Permit, the following conditions apply:
- You must have a valid Study Permit
- The intended employment must be an essential part of your course of study in Canada
- The employment must be certified as part of the program by MTI
- The internship may not be more than 50% of the total length of the program of study.
ENGLISH CONVERSATION CLUB
All international students are invited to join our English Language Conversation Club held at the school either at lunch time, or after class. These clubs are hosted by Canadian volunteer students and allow you the opportunity to learn “everyday Econversation in a relaxed, non-structured environment. There is a nominal fee to cover the cost of refreshments / snacks during Club meetings.

Benefits offered by the VIP program:
- Certificate of completion of the VIP program from MTI Community College (accredited by the Private Career Training Institution Agency (PCTIA) of BC)
- Letter of reference from the VIP Program issued by the International Programs Director
- Letter of reference from the host employer issued by the student’s supervisor
- Hard evidence of your experience with Canadian employers Elist of projects completed and performance evaluations.
